When shelters are strengthened, it becomes possible to provide systematic help to street animals and place them in shelters until they find a new owner. Shelters give us the opportunity to deliver support that is verifiable and measurable. Helping homeless dogs on the street is important, but supporting shelters can be documented more consistently and reliably, and the results can be measured — so that your donation is visible, measurable, and proven.
Most shelters operate with constant shortages and depend on donations. Food is one of their biggest regular expenses. Even when a shelter receives some support, it is often unstable. Our goal is to create stable and transparent support — and to publicly show proof of that help.
Yes , of cource. Our current focus is partner shelters, because this is the most reliable and verifiable way to deliver support. As RUFUS grows, we may expand to carefully verified street outreach using the same proof standards: photos, confirmations, and public reports.
We follow a simple model: You donate — we provide support — we publish proof.
After each delivery, we publish photos, delivery confirmation, and a short report showing the real kilograms delivered.
As a simple average planning reference for a medium shelter dog, we use about 2 Nutritions per day (~300g/day), usually split into two meals. Actual needs vary depending on the individual dog.
1 Nutrition Unit is RUFUS’s food-support measure — approximately 150g of dry food, close to one average food portion for a small or medium shelter dog.
This amount usually provides around 500–600 kcal of energy, depending on the food brand and ingredients. A Nutrition Unit is not a veterinary feeding prescription. It is a transparent measurement that helps us show how much real food each supporter helps deliver.
